Sidmouth Blue Plaques Walk around the Town

The Sid Vale Association have installed around 32 Blue Plaques in the town to commemorate notable buildings, or buildings associated with former notable residents of Sidmouth's historic past.

Here you will find a list, details and locations of the Plaques in the town. If you don't wish to discover them for yourself then use this guide to take you on a long walk from plaque to plaque and learn of the history and culture.

Below you will find all the plaques on a map of the town with the starting location at The Toll House at the end of the Byes. There is also The Byes Riverside Walk that starts from here which is another excellent walk along the River Sid through the Byes.

Where is the The Byes Toll House?

If you are following the main road in to town (A375) and are walking you will need to turn left opposite The Radway Cinema and walk down Salcombe Road where you will find the destination on the other side of the Bridge.

If you are walking through the Byes then the Toll House is located at the end of the Byes.

If you are driving and have parked in the Ham car park then it is a short walk from here. You will need to leave the car park via the main entrance and head away from the sea front along Mill Street. Do not turn off and you will come to a footbridge that crosses the Ford (Car crossing through the River Sid). On the other side of the footbridge you will enter Milford Road, at the end of this short road you will find The Byes Toll House.

The post code for sat-navs is EX10 8PR

Start the walk at the first plaque below. The walk is step free. When approaching Connaught Gardens from the beach there is a steep climb, however the main road up to the Gardens is less of an incline.
