11. The Old Ship
One of Sidmouth's oldest buildings dating back to 14th C. it was for centuries a rendezvous for smugglers and a place for the storing of contraband. By 19th.c. it had become a notorious Doss House for vagrants.
Where is this plaque located?
From the London Hotel plaque make you way back to The Market Square and turn right into Old Fore Street. Walk the length of this pedestrianised street and find The Old Ship on the left at the end. The plaque is on the left of the building frontage in the corner.
